The story behind the Bunny Run

The first Bunny Fun Run

Marathon runners Trevor and Jason have competed in races all over the  world, helping to raise thousands of Euros for  charities in the process.  They knew not everyone wanted to run 26 miles though, so decided to set up a unique race event for families of all ages and abilites, so started the first Bunny  Run back in 2013 with their friend Christopher Long, to raise money for Cancer Research.

A  father of three himself, Christopher wanted the kids attending to have as much fun as possible and  came up with the idea of free chocolate eggs and balloons and putting  fun at the heart of the day.  With his help  the event proved a great success.

Tragically, unknown to Christopher at the time, he had the very disease he  was  raising money to fight against.   Very sadly, just months after that first Bunny Run, Christopher  lost  his own brave  battle to  cancer at the age of just  34.

So now, in memory of a loving family man, the ethos of the Bunny Run continues to be about putting on a great day out for all the family. We encourage everyone to bring along the whole family and wear fancy dress or bright coloured clothing.

Whether you come for a run or a walk,  for the bouncy castles or face painting, fancy dress or in uniform, for some yummy  free BBQ and chocolate eggs or to win  lots of prizes -  the Bunny Fun Run  wants everyone to feel good about coming out and supporting needy causes.

The Christopher Long Memorial Cup

In memory of Christopher, every year our 5 mile runners compete for the Christopher Long Memorial Cup.
